Bourdier à Paris, "Sleeping Diana"

French table clock with hours and half hours striking.

 

Case: white marble “mount” case with browned bronze representing “hounting Diana” with gilt bronze arch and quiver. Other gilt bronze elemets enrich the clock. “Griotte” red marble base with gilt bronze friezes.

Dial: white enamel dial with polychrome decorations, black roman numerals for the hours and outer month calendar. Gilt brass hands. Maker, probably, by “Dubuisson ”. Movement: gilt metal movement, anchor escapement, pendulum silk suspension and hours and half hours striking. 8 days winding.

Signed: "Bourdier" on the dial. Probably the dial was made by Dubuiosson.

Dimensions: circa cm 45 (height); cm 49,5 (width); cm 19 (depth).

Period: Paris - France, circa 1790 –1795, Louis XVI period.

Signed “Bourdier” on dial.
