Rare english “chatelaine” with an important engraved pocket watch with two cases.

Chatelaine: gilt metal “chatelaine” with two “vinaigrettes”.

Outer case: pirced, “repoussée” and engraved 20kt gold case representing a mythological scene.

Inner case: engraved and pirced 20kt gold case.

Dial: white enamel dial with black enamel roman numerals for the hours, black enamel outer ring and arabic numerals for the minutes. Gold hands.

Movement: gilt brass movement with “fusée” and chain, verge escapement, gilt, engraved and pirced “coq”. Hours and quarter striking on request. Movement protection cover.

Period and provenance: circa 1770, London – England.

Signed on the movement cover “Geo Goodman London 268”.

One of its pair case gold enameled watch today is kept in the “Guidhall Museum” in New york, an other pair case gold repetition watch is kept in the “Metropolitan Museum of Art” in New York.
