Gabriel Duval à Paris
Fine and rare red tortoise-shell, brass and peltro veener “religieuse”.
Dial: velvet covered dial, engraved brass chapter ring with “champlevé” roman numerals for the hours and arabic numerals for the minutes. Foliate pierced and engraved brass hands.
Case: rectangular with half-moon pediment, surmounted by three torch finials, glazed door and sides, lower part with gilt brass allegorical appliqué.
Movement: verge escapement and silk suspension are both converted about 1850 with anchor escapement and metallic suspension; steel pendulum with brass bob, count wheel on the back plate, hours and half hours striking. 8 days winding.
Dimensions: circa cm 56 (height); cm 31 (width); cm 13 (depth).
Period: Louis XIII, end of XVII Century.
